Add Fields
Fields are like properties or bits of data that will add extra information to your locations and routes.
You can have as many fields as you like and fields can be of different types. You can use these to simply store and share more information or to make your visualisations richer. The possibilities are quite endless.
Find the “Tap to Edit” on iPhone or “Inspect” on iPad and macOS inside your collection to bring up the collection settings screen. In here you can start adding new fields using the “Add new field…” button. Alternatively, press the “New Field…” button inside a location or route card.
Editing a field
Inside the collection settings screen, you will find all fields that are currently applied to your collection. Tap on any of these fields to bring up their settings.
Removing a field
Tap on a field that you’d like to delete in the collection settings screen. You can find a “Delete” button at the bottom of the field settings.
Entering field data
After your collection has one or more fields, you can start entering data that will be visible to followers and collaborators and can be used in your views.
Open any of the location or routes inside your collection to view the list of fields. Long-press on iPhone and iPad to find a “Quick Edit…” button that will allow you to alter their states. Alternatively, press the “Edit” button to find all fields in ready-to-edit mode.
Field types
Maparoni currently supports these types of fields:
Text
A text field which can either be a short single-line text or long multi-line text. Long text can be formatted using Markdown.
Example
Need to do some deliveries 🚚? Add a short textfield with the name of your client and a long textfield to describe the products to be delivered. Adding another “done” checkbox gives you a great start in managing your customers and deliveries right on your map.
Single-Choice
Select one option out of a list.
Example
When you’d like to add the surface type to a collection of your favourite tennis courts 🎾, this field allows you to select one type only (eg. clay or grass).
Multiple-Choice
Select one or more options out of a list.
Example
Does your exercise activity 🏋️ repeat weekly? Add a multiple-choice field with the days of the week and select for each location which day it is on. Add multiple days if the activity is on more than once a week.
URL
Add a URL field when you’d like to add a link to your items.
Action
Similar to the URL field, but you can add parameters such as {latitude}, {longitutde} and {title} to the URL string. Read more about this in the actions section.
Checkbox
A boolean yes/no or on/off switch.
Example
Add a “Pet friendly 🐕” checkbox field to your cafe’s collection to record where you can bring your best friend.
Number
A number field can be either natural or with decimals.
Example
If you are a devoted golfer 🏌️♂️, you can add the number of holes and the par of a golf court to a collection of your favourite golf clubs.
Date
The date field lets you choose a specific date from the calendar.
Example
If you’re keeping track of places you’d like to visit in a “My Trips 🧳” collections, you can add a start and an end date to each of the locations. Fingers crossed that these dates won’t change 🤞.
Time
The time field lets you pick a time using the time picker.
Example
Select a time for when your pilates class starts.
Date & Time
This let you specify a date and time and the same time.
